Witch's Ladders

Every knot an intention. Every charm a little magic.

There is magic in the making, and power in the intention. The Witch's Ladder is a traditional form of knot magic, in which cords, knots, and symbolic objects are woven together to hold and represent a particular intention. With roots in folk witchcraft, these magical tools have long been associated with protection, blessings, manifestation, and the weaving of personal intentions into the physical world.

In knot magic, each knot becomes a symbolic vessel for intention. As the cord is woven and knots are tied, energy and purpose are traditionally believed to become bound within the work. Charms, crystals, bells, and botanicals add their own symbolic associations, creating a tangible reminder of the magic being cultivated.

The Velvet Underground Witch's Ladders are individually handcrafted using colourful braided fibres, ribbons, symbolic charms, and carefully selected crystals or botanicals. Each ladder is approximately 14 inches long and is inspired by one of the body's energy centres and designed to accompany meditation, intention setting, spell work, or everyday spiritual practice.

Hang your ladder near your altar, beside a doorway, in your sacred space, or somewhere you will see it often. You may hold it during meditation, run your fingers along its knots while repeating an affirmation, or simply allow it to serve as a beautiful reminder of the intention you have chosen to nurture.

Choose Your Magic:

Throat Chakra • Truth • Communication • Authentic Expression

Adorned with apatite crystals, this vibrant blue Witch's Ladder honours the Throat Chakra, the energetic centre associated with communication, truth, and self-expression. Solar Plexus Chakra • Confidence • Courage • Personal Power

Woven in radiant yellow and adorned with tiger's eye, this Witch's Ladder celebrates the Solar Plexus Chakra, the energetic centre associated with confidence, self-esteem, willpower, and personal sovereignty. Bright and playful, this orange Witch's Ladder incorporates chamomile, a botanical traditionally associated with peace, prosperity, purification, and good fortune. The Sacral Chakra represents creativity, emotional expression, pleasure, sensuality, and our capacity to embrace life's beautiful experiences. Chamomile brings its gentle symbolism of calm and ease to this energetic centre, encouraging creativity to unfold without pressure and reminding us that joy deserves a place in everyday life. Created for awakening inspiration, welcoming pleasure, nurturing emotional balance, and reconnecting with the simple delight of being alive. I welcome joy. I honour my desires. Creativity flows freely through me.

Root Chakra • Grounding • Stability • Protection

Woven in rich red and adorned with red agate, this Witch's Ladder honours the Root Chakra, the energetic foundation associated with stability, security, belonging, and our connection to the Earth. Red agate has long been associated in crystal traditions with grounding, courage, protection, and inner strength. Its warm, earthy symbolism encourages a sense of steadiness when life feels uncertain or change is unfolding. Created for times of transition, establishing energetic boundaries, reconnecting with your foundations, or simply remembering that you have the strength to stand firmly upon your own two feet.
