There are many ways to arrive at healing and mine began in healthcare. For years, I worked as a Registered Nurse, learning to understand the body through a clinical lens and witnessing people through some of their most vulnerable moments. That work taught me a great deal about caring for others, but over time I found myself becoming increasingly curious about the parts of healing that were harder to measure. Reiki opened that door. What began as an exploration of energy gradually became a different way of understanding healing, intuition, connection and the relationship we have with ourselves and the world around us. Eventually, that path brought me across the water to Prince Edward Island and, ultimately, to the red shores where I breathed Red Sands Reiki into life.
Where the Clinical Meets the Mystical
I have never felt the need to choose between the grounded and the mystical. My background in nursing continues to influence how I work, while more than a decade of studying and practicing energy work has taught me to listen in an entirely different way. Along the way, I have trained in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Neo-Ericksonian Hypnosis, Sound Healing and Tuning Fork Therapy, Therapeutic Touch, ThetaHealing® Basic and Advanced DNA, and Reiki, becoming a Reiki Master Teacher. Each practice has given me another tool. None of them has become a formula. I trust the process and allow the energy to guide each journey.
Reiki Is at the Heart of My Work
Reiki remains the foundation of what I do. My Reiki Experiences begin with conversation, and from there the session unfolds around you. Reiki may stand entirely on its own or be complemented by tuning forks, crystals, NLP, guided meditation or gentle hypnotic suggestion when appropriate. There is nothing you need to perform, understand or believe. You simply arrive, settle in and receive.
Teaching Reiki
Becoming a Reiki Master Teacher added another dimension to this work. Throughout the year, I teach First Degree Reiki Certification in small groups over three days, giving students time to learn, practice, ask questions and experience Reiki rather than rushing through the material. I want my students to leave with a strong foundation, but also with the confidence to begin developing a relationship with Reiki that is genuinely their own. I remain part of that journey after the course is finished, because it’s all about connection.
A Little Magic Belongs Here Too
Red Sands Reiki was never going to be a beige wellness studio. There are crystals. Candles. Tarot cards. Herbs. Books. Singing bowls. Incense. Ritual tools. A little whimsy. And quite a lot of magic. My metaphysical shop grew naturally alongside my healing practice and has become part of the experience of visiting Red Sands Reiki. It is a place to wander, ask questions, discover something unexpected or simply pull up a chair and stay for a while.
A Place to Gather
Community has become one of the most important parts of what I have created here. Throughout the year, people gather at Red Sands Reiki for seasonal celebrations, Full Moon meditations, women's healing and intuitive circles, sound baths, Tarot, workshops, yoga, and other experiences that give us an opportunity to step outside ordinary life for a while and connect in a different way. Some people arrive deeply spiritual. Some are wonderfully witchy. Some are simply curious. There is room for all of them. Many offerings are also available online or at a distance, because being part of Red Sands Reiki doesn't necessarily require being on Prince Edward Island.
And Then There Were Books
Writing became another way for me to share this work. I have written four books spanning energy and magical practice, Tarot, fairies and children's magical adventures. All four of my books are available at Red Sands Reiki and on Amazon.
The Magick Within grew from years of teaching and practicing energy work, witchcraft and intentional living. It is a grounded introduction to energy, ritual, the moon, the seasons, crystals, herbs, shadow work and the everyday practice of magic.
The Witch's Mirror: Journey Through Tarot explores all seventy-eight Tarot cards as more than isolated meanings, following the larger story they tell about the human journey while inviting the reader into deeper reflection and shadow work.
Bramblewing's Book of Fairies grew from the real parent-and-tot fairy experiences once held at Red Sands Reiki. Through Bramblewing, my childhood fairy persona, young readers are introduced to elemental fairies, nature and a gentle kind of magic.
A Magical Summer in Prince Edward Island: A Rearranging Adventure takes young readers into an interactive story inspired by summers with my own great-nephews on the Island, where choices determine how the adventure unfolds.
What Red Sands Reiki Has Become
What began as a healing practice has grown into something I couldn't have completely imagined when I started. It is a treatment room and a classroom. A crystal shop and a gathering place. A place for serious healing and ridiculous laughter. For Reiki and Tarot, books and bowls, and ceremonies and conversations. I wanted to create a place where you don't have to become someone else before you belong. And I did.
Come curious. Come exhausted. Come skeptical. Come magical. Come because something in you has been wondering what might happen if you finally gave yourself the space to explore.
